- Applications for financial assistance to individuals in need can only be accepted from a post holder in a local authority or voluntary sector agency. Suitable post holders include social workers, housing officers, debt advisers, employment advisers, community link workers, head teachers, family support workers. The voluntary sector agency has to be a registered charity.
- This funding has been issued for the specific reason(s) outlined in the application. If you want to change the grant purpose this must be agreed in advance with the Trust Administrator.
- The maximum grant awarded is £200 (except white goods up to £300).
- Applications can only be made for clients who reside in Edinburgh or the Lothians.
- Payments will not be made directly to an individual, only to the applicant organisation by BACS transfer.
- Only one application on behalf of an individual/family will be considered in a twelve-month rolling period, (regardless of the value of the grant).
- The grant acknowledgement form which is sent out when an application is successful should be returned with the sales receipts for the items purchased within four weeks of receiving the grant.
- The Trust strongly recommends where possible supervised spends with or on behalf of the client.
- Please note that gift cards are not acceptable as evidence of proof of spend. The Trustees are concerned that they can be sold, used to buy alcohol, tobacco or lottery tickets. The sales receipt has to be for the item(s) requested on the application form.
- The failure to provide sales receipts to confirm that a grant has been spent appropriately and as originally intended may mean that the Edinburgh and Lothian Trust Fund will be unable to issue grants to the submitting organisation.
- Any unpaid or unused portion of a grant should be returned to The Edinburgh and Lothian Trust Fund within eight weeks of receipt, otherwise future applications will not be considered.
- A grant for welfare purposes is a gift, and the recipient can have no claim against the donor for wrongdoing.
- The Trust may ask the post holder for an anonymised testimonial about the impact of the grant on the client for the purpose of promoting the Trust’s work.
